Google Sites Gets Templates..

Posted by Unknown Nov 18, 2009
Google has announced updates to its Google Sites service that allows users to build their own websites with ease. New templates have been added to the service that has been made available to businesses and individuals.

The new templates include ones for personal use and for planning family events, groups and organizations. Google Sites is based on JotSpot that Google acquired back in 2006. The new templates allow users to quickly start off a new site with various gadgets, links and pre-built content.

The more advanced version for businesses also finds the option of sharing proprietary site templates using Google Apps. Google Sites is a direct competitor to Microsoft's Sharepoint service that more or less helps users do the same things as Sites does. While there are significant differences in the way Sharepoint and Google Sites function, only time will tell which amongst the two is lapped by larger number of users in the near future.
