Strong and confidential passwords are essentials to us. Not only for financial banking sites but also for the Social Networking sites.
With the social networking sites like Facebook and twitter a possible cause would be using your personal information, posting a fake status about you, subscribing/following to anonymous websites/blogs/users etc.

Key: Have strong Passwords.
One of the most important key to protect your online security is to have the strong passwords which can change frequently. Since, to set the strong passwords is bit tricky and even to remember the passwords for various sites is more challenging for us.
One of the way to create these strong passwords is to set a phrase which can be used to enter as password. But doing this you may feel time consuming for entering the complete phrase. So, either way you can use the initials of the phrase. For instance, "IboTNu#B.C" for 'I blog on technology network using blogger.com'. While doing this you are aware of the variants like upper-case, symbols and letters used with there meaningful presence in the passwords. Microsoft has an excellent suggestions on password creation and a password strength checker.
More Tips:
  • Don't use same passwords for all sites :
  •          Even if you create a strong passwords, don't use same for it every sites. Since, if hacker steals your passwords from any of the sites you logged in. It can be used to break into accounts for your other sites. Hence, you need to be more tricky here while using your strong passwords for different sites such as you may use the initials of the sites in your string passwords. For example: for Google account you could have "Go" lying somewhere in your password and "Fb" could be used for Facebook Account.
  • Do have Extra Security for your financial Websites:
  •          Here your may strengthen your password more by inserting some more letters, symbols or numbers.

World IPv6 Day.

Posted by Unknown May 5, 2011 0 comments

World-IPv6-Day      On 8th June, Google, Facebook, Yahoo! etc will be the most organizations that will offer their content over IPv6 for 24-hour "test flight".

The aim of the "test flight" is to motivate the organizations like Internet Service Providers, Hardware vendors, Web sites; to prepare their services for IPv6 to ensure successful transition as 4 address run out.

So Google created the Google over IPv6 program, where ISP have to promise search giant that they have good IPv6. In turn, Google will respond to DNS requests from those networks with IPv6 addresses for various Google properties such as google.com and youtube.com.

At this point, it's hard to predict what this experiment could mean for the amount of IPv6 traffic that flows through the Intertubes. If a lot of users are IPv6-enabled, a good amount of traffic can move from IPv4 to IPv6 overnight. This depends on how many additional sites and networks join the effort, though.

So, Lets see whether your Internet Service Provider updates IPv6 test it here.

A new Firefox Trojan had been discovered that forces the browser to save password and used them on an infected PC to create new user account.

The Trojan-PWS-Nslog malware was discovered by security Company Webroot. Actually the Trojan adds a few lines of the code and comments out the other portions of the code from the file of the Firefox file called "nsLoginManagerPrompter.js" with the result that all the passwords get saved locally without any input from the user.

The Trojan Creates a new account under the name "Maestro" on the infected computer. It then "scrapes information from the registry, from the so-called Protected Storage area used by IE to store passwords, and from Firefox's own password storage, and tries to pass the stolen information onward, once per minute - added by Webroot researcher Andrew Brandt.

Webroot can easily identify and remove the Trojan from infected machines, it says. To fix the modified Firefox file, users should download the latest Firefox installer and install it over the existing installation. No bookmarks or add-ons will be lost in the process, Brandt said.

Since, Firefox ranks 2nd in Browser market, also by default it does remember password. to avoid to these, go to tools in menu and select options, select security tab and uncheck the remember password, Webroot Advices.

So, be safe while browsing from our all time favorite Mozilla Firefox ..

Firefox Browser for Mobile...

Posted by Unknown Dec 22, 2009 0 comments

Firefox Browser for Mobile      Mozilla has claimed that the Firefox mobile will put an end to app stores like the iPhone's App Store or BlackBerry App World. As the smartphone web browsers will share much of the desktop Firefox's engine and render both complex HTML and JavaScript, the Mozilla mobile Vice President Jay Sullivan anticipates many developers opting to write web apps instead of producing native code.

"As developers get more frustrated with quality assurance, the amount of handsets they have to buy, whether their security updates will get past the iPhone approval process. I think they'll move to the web," Sullivan explains. Firefox Mobile is being developed for virtually every smartphone platform that embraces a comparatively unrestricted app environment, including Android, Nokia's Maemo, Symbian and Windows Mobile. It's currently only in beta stage for Maemo phones like the N900 but will be entirely unavailable on platforms like the iPhone, where Apple's submission rules ban most code interpreters and thus third-party web browsers.

Web apps may still face a difficult road ahead based on user reactions. As a consolation to iPhone developers, Apple in 2007 tried promoting web apps as an alternative to the then-absent support for third-party native software. Most still objected, and whether due to this or other factors Apple launched its App Store a year after the iPhone became available.

4G Mobile Debuts in Sweden.

Posted by Unknown Dec 16, 2009 0 comments

4G Mobile Debuts in Sweden      While we, in India, haven't even started dabbling with 3G, half a world away in Sweden, the country s leading Telecom operator TeliaSonera has announced the launch of its commercial LTE services.

LTE is a fourth generation mobile technology that offers blazing fast Internet access to wireless devices. In fact, with LTE, users get insane data speeds of up to 100Mbits/second. That s about 10 times faster than existing 3G services.

The service is currently available in Stockholm, the Swedish capital, Oslo, the Nordic capital, and will expand to over 25 cities over the course of 2010. The service is targeted at users who use data intensive applications like live video streaming, video conferencing and online gaming. Now that the service has been launched, initial costumers will have to face the trouble of making their devices compatible with LTE, which is currently poorly supported in terms of hardware availability.

TeliaSonera will provide special 4G modems to the users in order to use their devices whilst they are under 4G coverage. Looks like its time manufacturers start making 4G enabled mobile phones. Currently, the service is accessible only through the aforementioned 4G modem.
